Race Summary
I decided to do this race on a whim a week or two before the event. I like that area of Washington (Bellingham is the closest city) and it seemed like something I could slog my under-trained self through, something I am very familiar with doing. The race itself went very well, I finished 20 minutes under my goal time of 3 hours (come on, I said I was under-trained) and aside from finishing, that was pretty much my only goal.
My strategy was the usual, power hike the uphill, bomb the down hill, and cruise the flats. There was a bit of a wrench thrown into the mix with the weather, but I’ll get to that later. If you care to read more about the deets of the race, read below!
Pre-Race Training and Prep
Like I stated in the summary, I decided to do this race somewhat last minute so I wouldn’t really say I was training for it, but it did fall fairly nicely into my Bigfoot 100k training cycle.
